The Swingset Guy is a Midwest-based play-set vendor and installer. They specialize in an all-in-one experience that provides customers with a swing set, delivery, and installation all for one price. The primary objective of this project was to design and develop a user-centric website that enhanced the Swingset Guy’s digital presence. The transformed website invites customers to step into the process by providing information about every step of the way. The primary objective of this project was to design and develop a user-centric website that established the Swingset Guy as the leading experts for playset construction in the midwest. The transormed website highlights the company’s services and products, making it easy for customers to confidently choose their playset provider.
At the beginning of this project I met with my client to determine the scope and objectives of the project. I found a few different problem spots for the website itself and how my client was managing it.
The website had 5 different navigations, all with similar purposes. The primary menu was for the homepage, which led to an about page, contact page, and each headquarter location. In order to actually view swing sets for sale, users would have to go to a specific location, then choose the product page. When users navigate to one of the four location pages, there was an entirely new navigation menu with a home, swing set for sale, about, and contact page.
My client wanted to be sure customers knew that not all swing sets for sale would be available in each location. However having multiple menus are confusing for user experience and not great for SEO. So, I made one of my primary tasks making a single menu for across the entire site and including location filters for the swing sets.
My client was uploading each swing set as its own static page. This process was extremely difficult, labor intensive and time consuming.
The Swingset Guy's Logo was the only bit of branding the company had. With a green and blue as the primary colors of the logo, I incorporated them into the site design. I created a primary dark blue and green color, along with a secondary light blue and green for variation. The colors represent the playful and summery part of the brand, appealing to parents and children looking for a swing set. Combined with the minimalistic site design, The Swingset Guy's website has a professional feel, representing that quality of their swing sets and excellence of their customer service.
My client had already been using the Divi in plugin in Wordpress to build their site. Using a staging site, I started to redesign each page according to the comp designs. To streamline the content creation process on the site for my client, I incorporated the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugin. I created custom post types for the swing sets for sale and locations and adding custom fields to each. I link each custom post type to its own Divi Theme Builder page, which automatically creates a new page based on the template I built. This process enables a great user experience for the business owner specifically, allowing him to upload new swing sets easily - rather than creating each page individually.
